"If you're going to do a job, do it right." This is a quote that I've internalized and like to emulate in all that I do. As I mentioned on the Home page of this website, I was born and raised a "Farmer's Boy" and since then I've done a complete 180 turn into creating games for a living. I believe that starting out this way was good for me, in that it established in me how to work hard, and how to take pride in a job well done.

 

Games have always been very important to me. Like many developers, I grew up playing some of the games that are now heralded as some of the greatest games of all time. I vividly remember playing the original Super Mario Bros. on the GameBoy and having to use one of the external light sources to light up the screen at night so I could continue playing. Games have always been a comfort for me and now I get the chance to bring those same experiences to countless others while working alongside other developers who feel the same.

 

I thrive best within a team that's highly collaborative and where a good idea can come from anyone. Working alongside individuals who share the same drive and hunger to deliver unique and innovative experiences to players brings a thrill I haven't found inside other industries, and I love to share and learn from others on my team as I believe that's the best way to help eachother reach our full potential as game developers in this field. 

 

I love challenging myself, not only through games, but in all aspects of life. It may be lame to include a quote from Kung Fu Panda, but, "If you only do what you can do, you'll never be more than you are now.", is a quote that Master Oogway said that I think encompasses how developers grow in the industry. By taking on daunting tasks, giving it your best, and being unafraid to fail gracefully and learn from it, you'll eventually find yourself better off than if you'd never attempted the task at all.
